Dutch Dare Challenge #206 - Boys Rule

For today's card I am joining the "A Team" for the Dutch Dare Card Challenge - Boys Rule.  The challenge to make a card for the man or boys in your life.  The sponsor this week is Bugaboo Stamps.  I love their images, so I wanted to play along too.  Again, it is difficult for me to do male cards mostly because of the papers I have in my stash.  But I need a card for my dad's birthday and the Bugaboo "Gus Birthday Recount" image fits the bill!  I colored him with my copics and added RV0000 to the skin shading to give him a more gray skin tone.  I finished him off with some Glossy Accents to his glasses and the balloon.

Here is my card...

The papers were some kraft and black cardstock that was in my stash.  The pattern papers were both Recollections from Michael's "Bold Basics & Mosaic Memories.  I used a white gel pen to add the dots on his patches.
Copics:
Skin - E000, E00, E21, BV0000
Hair, Ground & Shadows - C00, C1, C3, C5
Overalls - B91, B93, B95, B97

Friday MashUp - "Here Comes Peter Cottontail" / Stamp 'n Doodles "Anything Goes"

For my second post I created a card using the sketch for the Friday MashUp.  The idea behind the MashUp is a sketch and / or a theme.  You can use one or the other or both - that's the mashup!  For my card I went for both.  The theme this week was bunnies.  Since it's "Anything Goes" this week at the Stamp 'n Doodles Challenge I am also posting my card there.  The bunny image I used is another from Whipper Snapper Designs.  The sentiment and eggs came from the Stamps of Life.

Here is the sketch for this week.

And here is my card.

The Deconstructed Sketch #90

Woohoo...I got down in my craft area yesterday and created two cards, so I actually have two posts for today.  That's a first.  For this card I used The Deconstructed Sketch #90.  I love Jen's sketches and the examples she has on her site.  Based on the size of my squares I made this into a 4 1/2 inch square card.  The pattern paper is from Basic Grey's "Hello Luscious" 6 x 6 pad.  The sentiment from Stampin Up's "Pursuit of Happiness" stamp set, which I believe has been retired.  I used my ticket tag punch on the corners and used some Tea Dye Distress Ink around the edges.  The flower is the MFT Die-namics Sunflower Die.  The leaves are Papertrey Ink's die "Turning A New Leaf" the stamp set "Embroidered Blooms".  The ink was SU's Certainly Celery and Old Olive.

Here is the sketch.

And here is my card...

Dutch Dare Challenge #205 - "Tag You're It"

Today's challenge at the Dutch Dare is "Tag You're It".  The challenge to make a tag or a card with a tag on it.   This week's sponsor is Crafty Sentiments.  They carry unmounted rubber and digital stamps along with their own line of dies.  I am using the image "Benson Bear".  For my card I dug out a very old die from Sizzix.  Using the largest tag I cut one out of pink cardstock and pattern paper.  I cut the pink tag in half and added it to the sides of the pattern paper just to add an accent.  Using the medium size tag I did the same with grey cardstock for my sentiment.  I printed the image several times to make the flowers.  The bear & flowers are colored with Copics.  I colored the image and then used an old towel with blending solution over the image to give the bear some texture.  The white background was run through my Cuttlebug folder "Swiss Dots".  Here is my card for this week.

Stamps: Crafty Sentiments "Benson Bear", Sentiment PI "My Balloon" & Inkadinkado for the news print on the leaves.  (The stamp did not have a name on it - which is strange)
Paper: X-Press It Blending Card, Pink & Grey Cardstock from my stash
Pattern Paper: Recollections "Mosic Memories"
Dies: Sizzix "Tags Scallop Combo #2, Nestabilities Oval & Lacey Ovals
Punches: SU Oval & Scallop Oval
Cuttlebug "Swiss Dot" Embossing Folder
White Gel Pen for eyes and highlight on nose

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #112

It's been a while since my last post.  We were on vacation and it's hard to get back in the swing of things.  But here I am, so the MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #112 was a great place to start.  If you are interested in the challenge the MFT forum at Splitcoast Stampers is the place to check it out.  Here is the sketch for this week.

For my card I used the PI stamp set "You're So Tweet".  The sentiment is from the Stamps of Life "Trees To Build".  The cardstock is SU Marina Mist & Whisper White.  The pattern papers I picked up at a rummage sale from a Stampin Up demonstrator, so I don't know which collections they were from, but I am sure they are retired.  I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on X-Press It Blending Card and colored with my Copics.  I added a little Stickles to her hair clip and heart on her dress.

Copics:
Skin- E000, E00, E21, R20
Hair- Y21, YR21, YR24
Hair Clip and Belt- B95

Dutch Dare Card Challenge #203 "Be Mine"

With Valentine's Day almost upon us the Dutch Dare Card Challenge theme this week is "Be Mine".  This week's sponsor is the The Paper Shelter.  I hope you have a chance to check out the challenge this week and play along with the design team!  For my card I used The Paper Shelter digi stamp "Romantic Mailbox".  I colored the image with my copics, added  glossy accents to the heart on the mailbox and put a little white highlight on the hearts with a gel pen.  The ribbon was something I picked up years ago in the dollar bin at Michaels.  I decided to use the ribbon instead of adding a sentiment.

Stamp: The Paper Shelter Digi "Romantic Mailbox"
Paper: X-Press It Blending Card, SU Regal Rose & Cherry Cobbler
Puches: Martha Stewart Edge Punch "Lace Hearts", SU Photo Corner Punch (retired)
Ribbon: Michaels Dollar Bin

Flower: YG61, YG63, YG67, Y13, Y17
Shadows: W00

Until next time...

Cute Card Thursday - A Different Corner

For today's post I made a card for a new baby.  I'm working on a blanket for friends who are having their second baby boy, so I made a card that coordinates with the blanket.  I think they will like it.  This card is for the Cute Card Thursday Challenge - A Different Corner.   The challenge - to do something with the corners of the card.  I used another Whipper Snapper Designs image that I picked up last week.  I colored the image with my Copics and added some white button brads to the corners.  I fussy cut a second pacifier, popped it up with pop dots and added some Glossy Accents.  Using my photo corner punch I added some corners to the pattern papers.  The sentiment was from another stamp set.

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: X-Press It Blending Card, SU Marina Mist & Whisper White
Pattern Paper: Lost the cover to the paper pad, so I don't know.

Simon Says "Anything Goes Challenge" - Penny Black Stamps

Today's card is for the Simon Says "Anything Goes Challenge".  The design team over at Simon Says Stamp blog used stamps from Penny Black.  You don't have to use a Penny Black stamp to join the challenge, but since I do have some of their stamps I decided to play along with the theme of the design team.  The set I used is "Purrfect Day".  It's a very simple card that could work for either a birthday or just a thinking of you card.  The image is colored with my Copics.  I used distress ink around the image while it was still in the die to give a nice white edge.

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Ranger Antique Linen Distress Ink
Paper: X-Press It Blending Card, SU Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake
Corner Chopper
Copics: YR30, YR31, Y23, R20
