Papertrey Ink November Blog Hop

Today's card was made for the Papertrey Ink November Blog Hop.  The theme for the blog hop this month is SNOW!  So I pulled out my Betsy Veldman's Shaker Dies along with the PTI stamp and dies called City Scene.  The plaid paper is from Paper Studio's There's No Place Like Home For The Holidays that I picked up at Hobby Lobby.  For the snow I used Stampendous Shaved Ice Glitter.  There is a lot of glare from the acetate sheet and shaved ice, so it's hard to see the city scene, but the colors are as bold as the paper.

Birthday Card Using Art Impressions "Birdie"

With fall being busy with a wedding and with some us being sick, we are lumping all of our birthdays together and celebrating on Thanksgiving.  So I needed a card for my sister-in-law.  They live on a farm, so "Birdie" from Art Impressions was a perfect fit.  I colored her with Copics and the papers are from Prima Marketing called Doodle Deux.  The sentiment also from AI is called Spring Chicken.  I masked off the bottom of the sentiment stamp just stamping the first two lines for the front of the card and the remainder of the sentiment was used for the inside.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Thanks for stopping by and if you are in that cold snap like us - stay warm!!!

Art Impression Zoo or Animal Challenge

Well, I'm back with another card for the Art Impression Blog challenge of Zoo or Animals.  I know you're going to say another "front & back" card, but I can't help myself.  For this card I used one of AI's newer releases called mini front & backs elephant & pig set.  They also have coordinating dies, which make these a breeze to stamp, color & cut.  I just think these are super cute!  The papers are from the Cratepaper Farmhouse collection and the diecut was from MFT's Transformables Die-namics Say Hello set.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Art Impressions Challenge #148 - Zoo or Animals
Through the Craft Room Door - Anything Goes 11/4 - 11/10

Art Impressions Fancy Folds Challenge

Today's card is for the Fancy Folds Challenge over at the Art Impressions Blog.  My card is what I consider a "gate fold".  I used the Art Impressions stamp called Madge and the sentiment also from AI called How Old.  Using the Spellbinders Large Oval & Labels Eighteen dies I created the "gate" by folding the die cut and attaching it to the white inside sentiment piece.  I then trimmed the oval image.  The papers are from Echo Park's This & That 6x6 pack.  The inside sentiment is an old hostess set called Happiest Birthday Wishes from Stampin Up.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Art Impressions Blog - Fancy Folds
Through the Craft Room Door - Anything Goes 10/7 - 10/13

Tiddly Inks "Happily Ever After" Card

Well, I have one more wedding in a couple of weeks, so I pulled out one of my favorite stamp sets from Tiddly Inks called Happily Ever After.  My color choices might be a little odd for a wedding card, but I'm happy with how it came out.  The papers are from DCWV White Fern 6x6 pack.  As soon as I saw it I thought these would be perfect for wedding cards with the subtle patterns and colors.  The opening was die cut using the MFT Die-namics Rounded Banner Stax and the vine was die cut using Memory Box's Blooming Vine Die.  The sentiment is the All Occasion Banners stamps & the matching die called Tilted Banners.  Both are from Simon Says Stamp.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Reach for the Stars Card

The challenge this week at the Art Impressions Blog is "Show Off Your Sentiments".  When I do cards that the sentiment is the focal point I usually look for a sketch to work off of.  So being a creature of habit I used Sketch #190 from the Get Sketchy Challenge this week at the My Favorite Things Blog.

To create the circle shape I used the largest of my Nestabilities Circle Dies.  The papers are from My Minds Eye "Sunshine" 6x6 pack.  The sentiment is the Art Impressions stamp Reach for the Stars.  I paper pieced the star & heart in the sentiment to pull it all together.  The flags were created using the My Favorite Things Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics.  The spiral paper clip & Paper Studio - Spare Parts brad was from Hobby Lobby.  I went around all the edges with Tim Holtz's Tea Dye Distress Ink.

A Couple More Wedding Cards

Here are a couple more wedding cards I made for my niece.  This was one of those times where I went on the internet for some inspiration.  I found a beautiful wedding card that was done by Kristii Lockart.  To see Kristii's lovely card & check out her blog click the link HERE.
For my card I used the Papertrey Ink die set Man & Wife.  I also used the PTI stamp & die set Mini Blooms.  The pattern paper was from My Mind's Eye In Bloom 6x6 pack, which I covered with a sheet of vellum to soften the look.  The sentiment was from Stampendous and embossed using Ranger Super Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  Here is my card.

The design for my next card came from Kim O'Connell.  She does some wonderful coloring using Copics and you can check out her blog & card by clicking on the link HERE.  This card uses the super cute Tiddly Inks stamp Happily Ever After.  The paper is from My Minds Eye Love Me paper.

Wedding Card

My niece had asked me to make her some wedding cards.  So I pulled out some stuff that I have had for a long time, but have yet to use.  I like to make larger cards for weddings, so this one fits in a 5 x 7 envelope.  First I embossed a piece of white cardstock using Stampin Up's Holiday Frame embossing folder.  I sponged on Stampin Up's Champagne Shimmer Mist Ink.  This was something I purchased a couple of years ago from one of their Celebration catalogs.  I'm not sure if they carry it anymore, but I like the look and wish I had bought some other colors.  The paper is Brushed Gold cardstock also from SU.  The die cut is from Papertrey Ink called Man & Wife.  The sentiment was made using Simon Says Stamp All Occasion Banners Stamp & Die set.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - In The Family
(I made these for my niece, so that is my connection to family.)
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Make It Sparkle
Art Impressions Blog - Like an Emboss - Any type of embossing

Art Impression Challenge "Like an EmBoss"

Today I pulled out one of my favorite Art Impressions stamps called "Sylvia".  I love how she  looks a wee bit stressed.  The challenge this week at the Art Impression blog is embossing.  It can be either wet or dry.  For my card I dry embossed pink/white core cardstock from DCWV using a folder from Darcie called Swirl Background.  Then I lightly sanded it to bring out some of the white core.  I colored my image with Copics and paper pieced her top with papers from Authentique's Latest & Greatest collection.  The sentiment is from Inkadinkado and the cupcake is from Stampin Up's Create a Cupcake stamp set & matching punch.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

I also want to share a couple of pics of this year's fawns.

Art Impressions Challenge "Big Birthdays"

Today's card is for my mom's birthday.  We actually celebrated it today with my dad's.  One is in July the other in August, so it's easier to do them together, so everyone came over for some lunch and cake.  I'm using the Art Impressions stamp set called "Fire Out".  I colored her with Copics, added some Glossy Accents to the glasses & Stickles to the pompom on her party hat.  The papers were from DCWV The Birthday Wishes Stack and the banner was cut using the Ribbon Banner from Simon Says Stamp.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

PTI Make It Monday Challenge - Rainbow Medallions

This week's Make It Monday challenge at Papertrey Ink is using your stamps to make rainbow medallions.  Dawn Mcvey has a video showing different and creative ways to use your stamps that you might not have thought of.  For my card I used the PTI set Ribbons & Bows.  I inked up only the bow section of the stamp and left off the tails.  The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Happy sentiment & die.  The outer white panel was embossed using an embossing folder from Darcie.

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Shake It

Before I get to my card, I like to share a pic my husband took the other day.  We live in a very rural area, so we have lots of deer.  But this one decided to bed down in our front yard right next to the driveway.  At first we thought maybe it was hurt since it laid there for so long, but it eventually got up and left.  We see them once in a while bedded down in the tall grass, but never on the lawn.  It's a little blurry, since he took it through the window, but you get the idea.

My dad's birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks, so I pulled out the Art Impressions stamp set called Lawn Ranger.  He just got a new riding lawn mower, so I thought this would be a perfect fit.  Since the theme this week at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is Shake It  I thought I would pull out my shaker dies that I got from Papertrey Ink.  They were part of a kit from Betsy Veldman.  The sunburst in the corner was also from the kit and the sentiment was computer generated. The paper was from the Basic Grey 6x6 pack called Shine On.  I used green sequins & glitter for the shaker.

Shaker cards are always fun and the design team at Simon Says Stamp has some really great creations for inspiration.  I haven't had a chance to check out all cards entered in the challenge, but looking forward to see what everyone comes up with.  Thanks for stopping by.

Art Impression Challenge - Inspiration Sequin

This week's challenge at the Art Impression Blog is Inspiration Sequin.  I just so happened to have some silver star shaped sequins and thought that would be perfect with the Art Impressions stamp Reach For The Stars.  The inspiration & sketch for this card came from Jen Shults blog called Deconstructing Jen.  If you haven't checked it out yet, you should take a look.  She has some really great sketches and her cards are fantastic.  The papers are from  the American Crafts Dear Lizzy - Lucky Charms collection.  The heart, scalloped heart & star die cuts are from Spellbinders.  I added Stickles to the star & heart stamped images.

Have a great week...

Papertrey Ink - Make It Monday - Vellum Overlays

Over at Papertrey Ink this week for their Make It Monday challenge Danielle Flanders has a video on Vellum Overlays.  I love the look of vellum, but really have never used it on my cards.  So I thought this would be a great challenge, since the vellum I bought has been sitting there for a couple of years now.  For my stamps I used PTI's Leave It Be stamp set.  I stamped two panels on white card stock.  The larger panel I covered completely with vellum to give it a more subtle look to the bold design.  The smaller panel I left uncovered.  For the sentiment I used the PTI Mini Blooms set by using a band of vellum that was embossed using Ranger Super Fine Detailing Embossing Powder.  The vellum was attached with brads, since I really didn't have a good place to put adhesive without it showing from the back.

I am entering this card in following challenges:

(My ought to use this more would be the vellum - it has been sitting there for years!)

Here is my card...

Wedding Shaker Card Using Papertrey Inks Shakers & Sprinkle Kit

This weekend my niece is getting married, so I wanted to make something different for a wedding card.  I was one of the lucky ones who got through to order Papertrey Ink's "Make It Market Kit -  Shakers & Sprinkle by Betsy Veldman.  The kit is great because everything is there to make all sorts of shaker cards and it was really easy.  For my card I used the heart & scalloped heart shaped dies for the shaker.  The "sprinkled" word die & "with love" stamped image also came with the kit.  I used the heart shaped confetti die along with the chunky type sugar glitter for the shaker.  It's a little hard to see in the pic since I had a difficult time photographing the silver paper & acetate sheet, but I think you get the idea.  The pattern paper was from the Making Memories Wedding 8x8 pad & Stampin Up's Brushed Silver card stock.  For a first try at this type of card I'm pleased and can't wait to try more using all the other dies supplied in the kit.

Thanks again to all of you who stop by and leave such great comments.

Mother's Day Card Using Art Impressions Louvelle On Couch

Hope all you mom's out there are having a Happy Mother's Day.  We are planning to visit my mom in the afternoon.  I got her a climbing Black Eyed Susan plant, since she likes her flowers and made this card to go with.  The card was made for the Art Impression Challenge "Cute As A Button".   I used the AI stamp "Louvelle On Couch".  As soon as I saw her I thought she would be perfect for paper piecing.  The background paper was from the 6x6 pack from Studio Calico called Here & There.  The papers for the couch, pillow and Louvelle's top came from the Fancy Pants - Park Bench collection.  I stamped the couch, pillow & shirt then fussy cut them out.  I stamped Louvelle out a couple of times & pieced together her clothes, head and arm.  The blue piece was embossed using the Darcie embossing folder called Brick Wall.  The sentiment was computer generated and I added some star buttons I had in my stash as well.  She has some bling on her finger and I added Stickles to her earrings and some Glossy Accents to her glasses.

Here is my card...

For the inside of my card another computer generated sentiment and the Art Impression stamp Melvin.  With his great smile I thought he went perfectly with the sentiment.  You got to love those Art Impressions stamps!

Have a great day...

Art Impressions Anything Goes "Masculine Challenge"

Well, we make it back from Florida just to get back to rainy, cold weather.  I keep telling my husband it will warm up soon.  And by the looks of it he will be cutting the grass probably next week.  My card today is for the Anything Goes - Masculine challenge over at the Art Impressions blog.  They are celebrating their new release called AI Father 's Day Heroes.  I love these images and they have super cute sentiments to go with them.  They work well for any masculine card, so I will be adding these to my collection of AI stamps.  Since Father's Day is fast approaching I made a card for my dad using the Art Impression stamp "Norm".  The papers are from the Studio Calico 6x6 pack called Here & There.  The Father's Day sentiment was from a really old Fiskars stamp set.  I thought the card needed something else, so I added some computer generated words & phrases.  I couldn't decide which ones to use, so I added them all.

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment.

Today's card is using a stamp from Whipper Snapper Designs called Muddy Pup.  The layout for the card is using Sketch #172 from this week's challenge over at the My Favorite Things blog.  The stamped image was colored with Copics, then I popped up the muddy bits with rolled up glue dots to add some interest.  I also added some Glossy Accents to the nose.  The papers are from the 6x6 pattern paper pack Simple Stories 24/Seven and the flag was die cut using the MFT Die-namics Fishtail Flags Stax & Layers.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Art Impressions Girlfriend Challenge & 2014 Girlfriend Launch

Over at the Art Impressions Blog they are celebrating their launch of the new 2014 Girlfriend stamps.  To celebrate they have a contest to win all four new sets and also a "Best Friends" challenge.  For the challenge you can make any type of project (not just cards), but you need two or more stamped people.  So for my card I am using the Art Impressions image "Power Walkers" & sentiment "110 pounds".  The image was trimmed to a square and then I fussy cut around the arm and shoe to add a little interest.  The papers are from Simple Stories  24/Seven 6x6 pack.  I colored the image with Copics and the sentiment was stamped & trimmed, so it would fit my card.  I die cut the little flags in the top left corner of the card using the My Favorite Things Die-namics Fishtail Stax Layers.  If you get a chance check out the AI blog for a chance to win some stamps - I know my fingers are crossed!

PTI - Make It Monday "No Sew Quilted Cards"

Today's card is using the "no sew quilted card" technique from Dawn McVay for the Make It Monday #159 video at Papertrey Ink.  This is a really great look and is really easy to do.  It also is a great way to use up your scraps.  I die cut squares using papers from the My Mind's Eye 6x6 pack called Stella & Rose - Mabel.  I glued them down leaving some blank spaces.  Next I ran it through my die cut machine using the PTI Hexagon Cover Plate to emboss the whole card front.  The sentiment was die cut from the Nestabilites Fancy Framed Tags Two.  The Hello sentiment was from the PTI stamp set Embroidered Blooms.

Here is my card...

I hope you get a chance to check out the video and try this technique.
